I hold the belief that given the right conditions, we can explore our issues, understand them better and where appropriate, work towards solutions. I aim to create these conditions within our therapeutic relationship, offering a non-judgemental, confidential space for you to explore your situation and associated feelings.
I am a counsellor with over 20 years’ experience of counselling and clinical supervision, having worked in the NHS and Employee counselling services as well as private practice. I work with people presenting with stress (work or personal), anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship difficulties, childhood historic issues, self-harm and low self-esteem. Whist I work mainly with adults, I can work with young people by individual arrangement.
I work from a person-centred perspective (Dip. Couns. Strathclyde university 1998), and where appropriate, will draw on CBT training and experience depending on your needs or preference.
I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Snr Accred) and I abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
